Every Wednesday through Saturday night in the stylish melodies of the big band era and old familiar voice of "old blue eyes" can be heard live in the cigar bar of MIKE DITKA'S Chicago, located at 100 E. Chestnut. John Vincent, has put his Sinatra-esque voice and style, as well as MIKE DITKA'S on the map as a popular nightlife destination.
Born and raised in the Southwest side of Chicago in Garfield Ridge, Vincent majored in advertising and business at Elmhurst College in 1995. It was here that Vincent first saw Frank Sinatra live in concert and immediately became "hooked" on the man and his music. Not only did Vincent discover his passion for Sinatra's blend of jazz, blues, and swing, but he also learned that his voice had an uncanny resemblance to Sinatra's crooning-style.
After graduation, Vincent traveled abroad in Europe and played pro football in Germany. One year later, he returned home to Chicago, and after four years working as a recruiter, Vincent decided to pursue a singing career full time. He began performing two to three nights a week at Rosebud and Nonno Pinos in Chicago. Shortly after, Vincent auditioned for an opening at DITKA'S cigar bar and was hired to perform two nights a week. He soon developed a following, including Mike Ditka, himself…Chicago became his "kind of town."
Since joining DITKA'S, Vincent has been invited to perform at Chicago Cubs and White Sox games and the Taste of Chicago, as well as national events, including a Wizard's game, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Green Bay Packers, and various venues in Washington, D.C., Florida, Louisiana, Iowa, New York, and Las Vegas. Vincent also released his first CD, John Vincent Live at Ditka's in January 2003.
